Learn more about the following items in this week's edition:
- When is the Most Dangerous Time to Drive? Based on 2018 data, the most accidents occurred during the late afternoon and early evening - between 4 and 6:59pm. Driving at night is more dangerous than any other time of day.
2. Steps to Improve Night Driving Safety: 95% of crashes are caused by human error according to NHTSA. Night vision plays a huge role - The American Optometric Association recommends the following for all drivers:
- Reduce Speed
- Dim dashboard lights
- Avoid other lights in cab
- Look away from oncoming lights
- Wear anti-reflective glasses (if needed)
- Clean your windshield to eliminate streaks
- Slow down to compensate for limited visibility
- Minimize distractions (talking, listening to radio)
- Check up on side effects of any prescription medications you may be taking
- Ensure headlights are on about an hour before dusk and during times of bad weather
- Avoid following too closely
- Stay alert, check mirrors and watch for lights and movement

4. Practice Defensive Driving at Night: Learn some helpful safe driving techniques for yourself and your drivers.
